About eSIM
If you’ve ordered an eSIM, you’ll recieve your eSIM instantly once your order is processed. An email will then be sent to you with a step by step guide on how to activate your eSIM. Simply follow the “”How do I activate my eSIM”” steps and you’re good to go.
If your eSIM doesn’t automatically download, you can activate your eSIM via QR code within your MyGoMo account.
You need to see if your phone has an EID number as only eSIM compatible phones will have this unique number.
- In your phone settings:
For Android devices – naviagate to Settings > General > Status > SIM Status
For iPhone – navigate to Settings > General > About and scroll down to find EID - Dial *#06# on your device keypad to display the EID
Yes, once your phone supports dual sim you can have an eSIM and a physical SIM. Many smartphones including both Android and iPhone have this functionality allowing you to use different phone numbers simultaneously.
Unfortunately we do not currently support eSIM for wearable devices such as smart watches.
Yes, once your phone is compatible you can have multiple eSIM profiles on your phone. However you can only have 2 SIMs active at any one time.
An eSIM is a digital SIM card built into your mobile phone. An eSIM allows you to activate a mobile plan without needing a physical SIM card and it works exactly the same as a physical SIM. With an eSIM you’re not just getting smarter technology; you’re getting a more connected hassle-free experience.
No, unlike physical SIM cards, eSIM doesn’t require you to use a pin code. However, you can turn this on if you prefer.
eSIM activation
To activate your eSIM using QR code, follow the steps below:
- Login to your MyGoMo account on a laptop, tablet or another device.
- Click on ‘Activate’ at the top of the screen
- Scan the QR code with the phone you want to download the eSIM to.
- Once the eSIM activation is in progress, you will be asked for a passcode which will be displayed on screen.
For a seamless eSIM set up, some brands have an automated process. Providing your EID number ensures the quickest set up of your eSIM. To activate eSIM through carrier activation, please follow the steps below.
- Enter your EID from phone settings when ordering an eSIM sim only plan with eir mobile.
- A digital eSIM profile linked to your EID will be sent securely to your phone.
- You’ll receive a push notification to your phone, follow the on-screen instructions to complete your eSIM set-up
If you are having trouble activating your eSIM follow the steps below:
- Restart your device: A simple reboot can resolve minor software glitches affecting your eSIM.
- Toggle airplane mode: Turn airplane mode on for a few seconds and then off to refresh your connection.
- Check your eSIM selection: Go to your phone’s mobile/connection settings and confirm the correct eSIM profile is selected for mobile data, calls, and texts.
Yes, your phone will need to be connected to WiFi to activate your eSIM.
eSIM management
If you have a physical SIM card in your phone you can easily move to an eSIM if your phone is compatible.
First, you will need to request a SIM swap in your MyGoMo account in the ‘Account details’ section.
Once your SIM swap is complete (this may take up to 15 minutes) you will recieve an email on how to set up your eSIM using a Qr Code.
You can also follow the steps in “How do I activate my eSIM” to complete the activation.
Make sure to remove your physical SIM once your eSIM is up and running
Don’t worry if you delete you eSIM in error, can easily download your eSIM again by logging into MyGoMo.
- Log in to MyGoMo
- Go to the “Account Details” page
- Scroll down to view “My eSIM details”
- Scan the QR code on the new phone you want to activate the eSIM on.
- Enter the passcode when prompted by your phone.
Please note: In order for this to work, the eSIM must be deleted off of the original phone. If you originally activated your eSIM through carrier activation, you will not be asked to enter a passcode.
If your phone is lost or stolen, you can log into your MyGoMo account and complete a SIM replacement from the “Manage SIM & eSIM” page.
This will allow you to request another eSIM or physical SIM replacement. Alternatively you can contact GoMo webchat team to deactivate your eSIM and request a replacement SIM.
Device transfer is currently not available; however, you can follow these steps:
- Delete the eSIM off the phone that you no longer want to use the eSIM on
- Log in to MyGoMo
- Go to the “Account Details” page
- Scroll down to view “My eSIM details”
- Scan the QR code on the new phone you want to activate the eSIM on
- Enter the passcode when prompted by your phone.
Please note: In order for this to work the eSIM must be deleted off of the original phone. If you originally activated your eSIM through carrier activation, you will not be asked to enter a passcode.
Yes, you’re eSIM works exactly as a physical SIM card. Your roaming allowance remains the same and includes 19GB of EU roaming data.
Yes, the process is the same as a physical SIM. You can move your number from any network to a GoMo eSIM.
You can schedule your move when you order your eSIM or later in your MyGoMo account.
